About Mobirise
Mobirise is the odd one out in this catalog. It is a desktop app for Windows and Mac that builds sites offline from prebuilt blocks, and the app itself is free for personal and commercial use. Because the site is produced on your own machine, you host the result yourself. A free mobirisesite.com subdomain is included, and paid plans add hosted online sites with custom domains. The free version ships two themes with 200+ blocks and publishes with Mobirise branding. The business model sits in the extras. Individual themes list at $49 each and extensions at $59 to $69, and the all-in-one Kit with every theme and extension is listed at $149. The pricing page is unusually vague about billing periods and renewal, which is worth checking before you pay. For tinkerers who want a site as files on their own disk rather than a subscription, the trade can be worth it. Everyone else will find the modern hosted builders smoother.
Can you take your site with you?
Mobirise publishes the site to a local folder as HTML, CSS, JS and assets, since it is a desktop app; those files cannot be imported back into Mobirise. Read from Mobirise’s own help pages on September 2026. See the export and lock-in table for all 21 builders.

“A free offline desktop builder in a market of subscriptions. Assemble a site from blocks on your own machine, then host the result where you want. The catch is the business model around it. Expect $49 to $69 add-ons, a $149 all-in-one Kit, and a pricing page that stays vague about billing and renewal terms.”Editorial team, via WebsiteShortlist
