Where each price was read

Each figure on this page was taken from the builder’s own pricing page, and those pages are listed below so any number can be checked at the source. Builders change their prices without warning; where our figure and theirs differ, theirs is the current one.

The trend

The set of builders differed between the two most recent months (13 and 15builders), so any month-on-month change would reflect our own coverage rather than the market. No trend is published until two months share the same set. Each price in the table above was read from the builder’s own page and stands by itself.

Methodology

Each builder we follow contributes its lowest paid monthly price, the realistic point of entry. From those we report the average, the median, and the lowest and highest figure among the 21 builders that sell a paid plan. Free plans stay out of the paid average.

These are guide prices, verified at intervals, and a promotion can shift any of them, which is why automated re-measurement with a kept history is planned. The complete series sits in the machine-readable feed.

The index is one of several inputs to our rankings. For the whole method, the sources we lean on and the reason a commission cannot shift the order, see how we rank.
