Ecwid solves a different problem than Shopify: not "build a store" but "add a store to what exists". The embeddable storefront drops into any website (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, hand-coded pages) and synchronizes catalog, cart, and checkout across all of them plus social and marketplace channels. Under Lightspeed ownership the plans start with a limited free tier, with Venture around $21 a month on annual billing covering a realistic small catalog. The standalone "Instant Site" exists but is not the draw. For bloggers, restaurants, and established sites that suddenly need to sell a few products, it beats rebuilding on a commerce platform.
